Green Team Update- July 2026
Our Green Team has been busy over the past few months, and we’re excited to share what we’ve been working on.
As a practice, we are passionate about providing the very best care for your pets while also being mindful of the impact we have on the environment and our use of limited resources. Small changes across a busy veterinary practice add up - and we’re committed to making choices that protect the planet our pets depend on.
Our internal Green Team continues to look at ways we can work more sustainably and reduce our environmental footprint. Here are some of the changes we’ve made so far:
- Joining the “WeCan” initiative – collecting aluminium drink cans, which are sold to metal recycling companies, with all proceeds donated to good causes such as local food banks.
- Donating waste medications and consumables to the Vets in Africa Project, a UK‑led initiative supporting rural communities in Uganda through veterinary education and basic animal care.
- Recycling our printer consumables.
- Investigating improved recycling options for food waste and packaging.
- Reducing plastic use and food air miles when purchasing food for the team and supporting local businesses wherever possible.
- Cutting down on paper use – starting with reducing automatic invoice printing at our branch practices and offering emailed invoices instead, as well as reducing in‑house paper use.
- Lowering electrical energy use by ensuring lights are switched off when rooms are not in use.
- Improving waste separation across the practice.
We’re proud of the progress so far, but this is only the beginning. We are always striving to do our best for our pets, owners, and staff and that includes doing our bit for the planet too.
If you have ideas, suggestions, or know of local initiatives we could support, we’d genuinely love to hear from you. Your input helps us keep moving in the right direction.
Looking ahead, we hope to work towards an environmental accreditation such as Investors in the Environment, and we’ll keep you posted on our progress.
Thank you for supporting us as we work towards a greener future for our community.
